Philippines will host the 2019 FIFA World Cup Qualifier on August 25-26, 2019.
The 2018 edition of the tournament was held in Brazil from August 4-18, with the 2019 edition to be held in Russia on August 15-17.
The Philippines will also host the 2022 FIFA World Club World Cup in Australia from October 1-6, 2020.
This is the third time the Philippine Football Federation has hosted the 2018 World Cup qualifiers.
The last two times, the tournament saw a host country play host to the finals of the Copa America, the FIFA Club World Championship, and the 2018 Confederations Cup.
The Philippine Football Association has been working with FIFA to ensure that the 2018 qualifiers are held in the Philippines.
“We are preparing to host the FIFA World Cups qualifiers in the country of our choice,” Philippine Football president Antonio Carpio told reporters on Tuesday.
“We are looking forward to this event and we are ready to face the challenges of hosting these games.”
Carpio also said that the tournament would feature the Philippine National Soccer Team.
“I will definitely be supporting the national team, as well as our supporters, for this tournament,” he said.
“It is a special event for the country and I think it will help bring about an environment for a lot of good things.”
